On the occasion of the completion of Aalborg University's new, large-scale artwork, ‘Flags of Knowledge’ on campus in Aalborg, the university invites you to a festive inauguration of the work at AAU INNOVATE on Wednesday 4 December.
Flags of Knowledge is a permanent artwork created specifically for AAU to mark the university's 50th anniversary. The work consists of 116 colourful flagpoles with flags in five colours representing the four faculties and canteens.
The flags are visual indicators that give a sense of where you belong and make it easier to find your way around the large campus in Aalborg East.
In addition, four wind vanes with the words Love, Community, Knowledge, and Future guide the way along the main thoroughfare on campus. They have recently been installed on campus - and now complete the work.
Artists Sofie Hesselholdt and Vibeke Mejlvang will be present at the inauguration and present the thoughts behind the creation of the work.
The work has been made possible with support from Det Obelske Familiefond and Salling Fondene as part of AAU's art strategy ‘ONE CAMPUS’.
