In the future, when researchers, students and companies meet over a cup of coffee in NOVI Science Park in Aalborg, it will be in a setting that bears a familiar name to many at Aalborg University (AAU). Caspers Café is named after former AAU Rector Sven Caspersen – informally known as Casper – who for several decades was extremely important to both the university and the science park close to campus.
It was Sven Caspersen who in the 1980s formulated the conceptual basis for what is today known as NOVI. The science park now serves as a gathering point for research and business where companies of various size and development units are housed.
"It is a very great honour for me to give my name to NOVI's new Caspers Café. The university and the science park have been a very big part of my life, and I am delighted that there is now a real café where the many different tenants, researchers, students and companies at NOVI can meet and exchange thoughts and ideas," says Sven Caspersen in a press release from NOVI.
Casper's Café is intended as an informal gathering point for NOVI's users, including researchers, students and companies.
"NOVI is one of the country's most successful science parks attracting ambitious, knowledge-intensive companies for more than 30 years. We have a very well-functioning canteen, our own sourdough bakery, health clinic and hairdresser. But we’ve lacked a real café, and we didn’t doubt for a moment that the name should of course be a tribute to one of the most legendary figures at Aalborg University over the years," says Henrik Lundum, CEO, NOVI.
