For 50 years now, Aalborg University (AAU) has contributed to solving today's major societal challenges through research, graduates and innovation. Throughout the years, the university has strived to be a university in time and on time.
The anniversary will be celebrated with several major events. Among other things, an official celebration in Musikkens Hus on 19 April with the participation of H.M. Queen Mary.
The programme offers speeches and award ceremonies to the university's researchers and students. Artistic and musical performances from, among others, Australia's talented opera star Siobhan Stagg, the Ukrainian sand artist Kseniya Simonova and dancer and choreographer Selene Muñoz.
Since 1974, Aalborg University has formed and educated young people on the basis of research of the highest international class in order to contribute to creating knowledge for the world, innovation and change.
With its internationally recognized and unique learning model for problem-based learning (PBL), Aalborg University has created a special framework for solving society's problems through close collaboration with the outside world.
Aalborg University is, as H.M. Queen Margrethe II expressed the wish in her speech at the inauguration, "a place of which there goes reputation".
In her inauguration speech back in 1974, The Queen also emphasized that the University of North Jutland created opportunities for more young North Jutland to complete an education in their home region – for the benefit of the region's and Denmark's development:
"Today is a special day – not just for Aalborg and North Jutland, but for the whole country."
The anniversary will also be marked on May 31. Here, the university holds a big anniversary party for students and staff at Aalborg Congress & Culture Center.
