Aalborg University this year can offer a degree programme in political science. The new programme was approved shortly before Christmas and will admit students starting in the autumn semester of 2025.

"We are very pleased to be able to offer an education in political science to young people in search of a programme. Political science is a demanding and highly respected discipline, so the approval is a clear seal of approval of the academic environment surrounding the new programme," says Rasmus Antoft, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities at Aalborg University.

The university until now has offered a similar programme in administration and political science, but with the title Politics and Administration. Rasmus Antoft points out that the approval as Political Science means that the degree programme and the environment around it move up to a different league in terms of reputation.

"This will mean that we can attract even more talented individuals to teach students and conduct the research underpinning the programme. A strengthening of Aalborg University that will also strengthen our surroundings – not least the North Denmark Region and the students' future employers," says Rasmus Antoft.

The approval applies to both a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in Political Science. The Bachelor's degree programme will admit students starting in the autumn semester of 2025. The application deadline for the Bachelor's degree programme in Political Science is 15 March via quota 2 and 5 July via quota 1.

It has not yet been determined when the Master's degree in Political Science will open for admission.
