In Northern Jutland, health, research and education are linked. Literally. The North Jutland members of parliament got to see this when they visited AAU SUND on 23 September and stopped by the Foyer. The place where researchers and students from AAU and Aalborg University Hospital meet each other in person.
The Foyer creates a seamless transition between research and practice, which means that AAU can be directly involved in creating better healthcare for the people of Northern Jutland. This was one of the messages from Rector Per Michael Johansen, Pro-rector Anne Marie Kanstrup and the other AAU representatives the politicians met with.
The central question for the visit was how research and technology can help shape the healthcare system of the future.
Søren Paaske Johnsen, Professor in the Department of Clinical Medicine talked to the politicians about how to prioritize wisely and make the right decisions in the healthcare system.
Thomas Kronborg Larsen, Associate Professor in the Department of Health Science and Technology then explained to the politicians how artificial intelligence (AI) can free up more time for doctors to spend their patients and what it can mean for patients with diabetes.
