Everyone can be nervous about exams, and Professor Sten Bønsing, Department of Law remembers the butterflies in his stomach and sweat on his forehead during exam season. For many of AAU's students, it is peak season for late night reading and energy drinks before their exams. So, he compiled his best exam advice and shared it on social media.

"Everyone is probably nervous, but I was probably among the students who was less nervous. I think there is a big difference between written and oral exams. You may be just as nervous, but in different ways," says Sten Bønsing.

"Oral exams can get your adrenaline pumping. And then it always helps if you feel well prepared," he explains.

Five exam tips from Sten Bønsing

  1. Read the syllabus thoroughly
  2. There must also be time for a social life
  3. An individual exam is not important – rather, it’s the entire education
  4. There is also space for those who don’t have top grades
  5. Life goes on after exams

As an extra favour for AAU's students, Sten Bønsing also made a video, in conjunction with AAU Communication and Public Affairs, wishing students good luck with their exams.

"The communication unit had seen a similar one from Waterloo University in Canada. It wasn't quite as fun, so we made a slightly more fun version," says Sten Bønsing.

The video has received numerous reactions on social media and at this writing, has approximately 100,000 views on LinkedIn and approximately 60,000 views on Instagram. In addition, TV2 picked up the story and wrote an article about Sten Bønsing's good advice on exams.

"The day after posting, I was out to dinner with my wife, and when we ordered the food, the waiter asked: "Aren't you the one in that posting from the university?" It's kind of funny," says Sten Bønsing.
